1 Amazing Tip to help you choose a domain name

Hi, fellow eMarketers! How's it going for ya? ;-)~

So you've checked the first step and it shows you that you must get your domain name. If you haven't took this step yet then click here and see what you have to do to complete it.

And while you're at it, let me tell you something that can help you increase your overall website traffic.

In order to get a decent organic exposure, that is visitors straight from Google, you want to pick a website name that's really connected to your niche but, at the same time, not very used.

In a more specific example, if you want your site to be about Animals... you'd want to target a more targeted audience because under the Category "Animals" you have subcategories like "Dogs", "Birds", "Insects", "Mammals" and so on.

The "Animals" keyword is too broad because it includes all of that, and you'll have to compete with a lot of folks in order to get organic traffic.

To counter this, select a keyword that's more related to the line of work you do on "Animals" and has consistent searches from Google users, that also has a lower competition.

HOW?

Google provides you with the Keyword Planner that gives you insight of the search volume of the keywords you're looking.

Let's compare 3 keywords, from a broader aspect to a more specific search: "Animals", "Dog Training" and "Rottweiler training", with quotes for exact search match.

First up, "Animals":

I don't know how to change Google Account's Default language but you still understand that you have almost 1 billion results from this search.

That's a lot and your website is brand new, it won't even make it to the last million or so.

Then, "Dog Training":

Less than 5 million results, that's about 98% less websites that are targeting the same as you. When comparing to the previous Keyword, this is a much better alternative.

To finish, let's check out "Rottweiler training":

Success! Now you have a much better chance of making it to the first page since there are only 43K sites promoting the same as you.

What this means is that you gotta target a specific group of people and help them solve the problem with the services you're providing.

But, being too specific can have negative own consequences of its. See, you want to get a good Search Engine Result Page ranking, but if you're just focusing on a very tight group of people you'll be limited to that amount of people.

Here take a look:

You'll need about 150,000 visitors per month to have a good revenue and in this case... well I just hope you're not promoting this! ;-)~

Pick something that is locked on to a set of communities rather than a very hot topic.
Two examples of that are Website Development and Online Income.

WINTEMO has a good domain name so it gets a fair bit of organic visitors for its lifespan.

That's it folks! I hope this helped you choosing a good domain name so you can also get organic traffic!
