3 Alternatives to Amazon's Mechanical Turk Worker + Scam Warnings

First and foremost, what is Amazon's Mechanical Turk Worker?

Also referred to as MTurk, it's a Micro Jobs platform where you can earn money by completing simple tasks.

Tasks offer you from $0,00 (yeah, go figure) up to $40 or more.

It does take you some skill to get started on it but it's very easy to earn around $6 per day with tasks averaging in about $0,09.

That would be very nice and all but the problem is that due to abusive users entering false/incorrect data, MTurk only accepts users from the U.S. or India.

But what if you still wanted to earn money using such a system? Well... we're about to find that out, eh? ;-)~

Here are a few alternatives to MTurk that accept users from all over the world:

CrowdFlower : 5/5

The pay averages between $0,01 and $0,89.

Usually, you can do the same task over and over because they need it to be done on several sites.

I've worked with them before and I totally recommend it. Youshould definitely use CF to get a decent income.

The biggest problem, however, is its contributor layout:
if you just went to the tasks page, you'll have a hard time finding tasks that you, as a Level 0, can do.

They split the skill Level on 3 tiers. Averages lower than 75% are usually kept away from the site for some time, and you can even get booted out for good.

CF's support team has a very long response time too: I've submitted 2 tickets over 48h ago and I'm still waiting for an answer... >:-(~

All in all, take your time doing a good job, so you can qualify for at least Level 1 and always have jobs available. Sign-up as a contributor too, that is if you can.
I tried using 2 different web browsers but couldn't, must be a glitch...

MicroWorkers: 3/5

On this platform, anyone can join in and both offer a task or complete a task, as their slogan says.

The problem with it, is that anyone can post useless jobs or stuff that doesn't really matter.

Still, it pays higher than CF, averaging to $0,10.

The quantity of the tasks available is slightly higher too, since anyone can join. Most jobs only require you to join in and sign up to something or make a post.

What I disliked the most is that after requesting a withdrawal, it can take up to 30 days to be processed, and since their minimum is just $9, it may not be that worth it.

Anyways, I'd recommend it for starters.

CrowdSource: 3/5

I haven't tried this one but I've seen it before. It offers writing and the regular type.

Their site seems to be more keen on clients rather than workers so not much is known about it.

And of course, this post wouldn't be completed without some scam warnings!

Below are sites that don't pay or don't have tasks available. In a few words... DON'T join the sites below:

  • Short Task - Very poor reviews
  • ClickWorkers - Never has tasks available
  • MicroTurks - Not many tasks available; not a busy site

Hope this helps ya,
